Firefighters Battle 3 Brush Fires In Pickens County
Publicado - Published: 08/03/2010

CENTRAL, S.C. (WYFF).- Firefighters in Pickens County spent Sunday afternoon battling minor brush fires.

One fire started on private property off Silver Creek Road in Central. It grew to five acres.

A smaller fire also sparked nearby on Norris Highway.

The third brush fire started on Jenkins Way in Easley.

No one was hurt and no homes or buildings were damaged in either fire.

According to Ray Cassell with the South Carolina Forestry Commission, each fire started as a debris burn in someone's backyard, but it got out of control.

"This time of year's our fire season, and right now the humidity is getting very low and the winds are picking up, and you've got to be real safe with outdoor burning," Cassell said.

Fire officials told News 4 all three fires were under control, but they plan to check on them sometime Monday.
